Short Story (draft)

Ranita Camellia P

The sun shone bright this morning. I can hear the birds singing outside my windows. I entered the living room. The sight of my wife sitting by the fireplace greeted me. She has knitting equipment by the table with two cups of what seems like warm tea. "Morning" she said simply still focusing on her own work. I just replied her by humming, acknowledging her greeting. I sit on the sofa by the table and reaching for a cup of warm tea that my wife has made. On the second sipping of my warm tea I suddenly just remembered something. Tomorrow is my turn to turn 76 and it just clicked in my mind that my wife probably knitting something for me as my present considering my age that turns me into something who can't withstand the cold weather. Thinking about it makes my heart warm that my wife is still the thoughtful person that I met 60 years ago. So, I decided not to disturb her with her work and planning to go outside checking my little farmhouse. Without her notice I walk outside grabbing my hat and put on my jacket.

It is chilly outside sure the sun had shone warmly but the wind is quite chilly that make me tighten my jacket. I walk through the small road guarded by the woody fences alongside the way. The grasses behind my feet are swaying because of the wind.
