Due to Wrong Words
An elderly man with wrinkled skin and black hair that almost whitened in his head was reading today's news on a mahogany rocking chair. The old age makes him have to wear glasses to read the newspaper every day. The cool and fresh air in the morning in his village he enjoyed with the steaming hot milk coffee made by his beloved wife. Mr. Croft, or better known as Mr. Edgard Bancroft, is a retired mathematics teacher at a primary school. He has a wife who loves him that Mrs. Masta Vattany works as a caterer near her home. Mrs. Vattan works when there is a big party celebration, so it is not too much trouble in taking care of house chores.
They are not blessed with children, so they take other ways by lifting children from Mrs. Vattan's cousin who now lives in the next village. Evan who is the adopted son of Mr. Croft and Mrs. Vattan is 10 years old. This family life can be called a simple family. They depend on the pensioners' money and the catering. As a financial supporter in fulfilling daily needs, Mr. Croft's family keeps livestock such as chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, and goats. Various animals that they keep, Mr. Croft prefer to keep the chicken because since childhood his father taught to keep chickens. He thinks the chicken is a good source of good fortune to him because every morning the chicken that wakes him from his sleep, is an egg producer to sell for additional income and the meat can be consumed as well.
One day, after returning to school, Evan saw a rooster tied up next to his house, rushing to release the chicken while thinking that the chicken could disturb his favorite animal, the rabbit. Without thinking long, Evan chased the chicken away, hearing the sound of chickens going outside made Mr. Croft come out of the house and see what happened there that the chicken he had bought in the market had disappeared due to a nosy act from Evan. Mr. Croft is angry with his son for the ignorance because the chicken is very important for him to use today. He intentionally bought the chicken because of his wife's request on their wedding anniversary. They always choose chicken as the main course to celebrate the wedding anniversary because they believe the chicken gives good fortune to their family.
This afternoon his wife is going to her aunt's party in the next village and will be home late in the afternoon. It's hard for him to find such a good cock like that in his village. He had to wait about 3 months because the chicken order took a long time. Mr. Croft smacked Evan and said words he did not have to say. Hearing these words made the boy's heart sad and rushed into the house while crying. He did not expect the words of his father in the afternoon. "No wonder my father did not like me so far this turned out to be the answer I was looking for", think Evan. See this situation, Mr. Croft more confused and worried about his words to his son. If his wife finds out about this problem then his wife will be furious even there will be a great quarrel between them. He should not have been able to say that to Evan even though he was very angry about his foster child's annoyance. The disappointment cannot control his emotions surrounding the mind of Mr. Croft.
